Medical Anthropology

Minor in Medical Anthropology

The Medical Anthropology minor provides a cross-cultural and evolutionary/historical perspective on health; methods training that includes ethnographic, statistical, and laboratory skills; and most important, an integrated view of health and disease that encompasses both biological and socio-cultural contributions. You will learn how our ideas about and experiences of health, disease, and medicine are profoundly shaped by evolution; culture; transnational flows of people, ideas, and resources; histories of colonialism and structural inequalities; and the development of new technologies.

The Medical Anthropology minor will provide excellent preparation for students with career goals in any health science field, and for pre-med students to master the social sciences section of the MCAT exam.
