Self-Governance, Sustainability, and the Arts
The Oaxaca Field School requires enrollment in a second eight-weeks Hutton Honors seminar titled "Self-Governance, Sustainability, and the Arts." This course introduces students to indigenous systems of self-governance, community-based heritage management and sustainability, and the interrelationships between arts and society in the context of Mexico. After the end of the semester, students will take their knowledge abroad to visit heritage sites and meet with people who manage community heritage, practice various forms of art, and work to promote cultural identity during a two-week continuation of the program in Oaxaca, Mexico.
