We provide integrative training, both in and out of the classroom, to prepare students to meet the challenges of our changing world. Our department encompasses all of anthropology’s subfields: archaeology, bioanthropology, linguistic anthropology, and social-cultural anthropology. We offer a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including majors, minors, and certificates.
Our courses explore many topics, spanning the social sciences, natural sciences, and the humanities. You will learn to understand diverse ways of thinking and broaden your perspective about humanity. Through opportunities in the field and labs, group projects, and writing assignments, you’ll develop foundational skills sought by a wide variety of employers.
Our department is recognized as one of the best in the nation, in large part due to the diversity and strength of our faculty’s research interests and teaching commitments. You will have opportunities conduct hands-on research and study a variety of topics with dedicated faculty mentors who carry out interdisciplinary research on nearly every continent.
