It is with great sadness that we write to share with all of you that the IU Department of Anthropology lost a longtime leader, colleague, and dear friend in Cheryl Munson, retired Anthropology Research Scientist on Tuesday, December 10th.
Cheryl was one of the most prolific Indiana archaeologists in the state and her contributions to our discipline will be forever remembered. Cheryl was a tireless supporter and scholar of Indiana history and archaeology, and a publicly engaged researcher and educator, who trained many students.
We mourn her loss and send condolences to Prof. Emeritus Pat Munson, her husband and our former colleague, as well their children and grandchildren and other family and friends. Many likely know Cheryl better now from her incredible work on the Historic Commission and her four terms on the Monroe County Council, to which she was just re-elected in November.
