Workshop open to graduate students and advanced undergraduates focused on translating your research into a 300-500 word high-quality blog post that can be published online.
Jennifer Midberry (Media School) will lead a discussion of visual storytelling methods from 2:15-3pm and Lana Ruck (ScIU Blog) will discuss how to write for non-academic audiences from 3:15-4pm. We will leave time for writing and a quick peer review session from 4-5pm. Please come for part of the workshop even if you can’t attend the full session.
All participants are encouraged to bring draft materials, something you would like to share with the public, such as a seminar paper, summer research findings, a side project, or thesis chapter. Please also bring a laptop to work on your draft blog post.
Students researching Islam and Muslim communities around the world are especially welcome. The Muslim Voices Project may publish your post on our soon-to-be-launched blog and feature your work on our Twitter account with over 120k followers!
BONUS: snacks (both savory and sweet) and caffeinated drinks will be provided!
