Department of Anthropology

I am primarily interested in language ideology and media production and how they have changed in dynamic digitally-mediated hyper-transnational age. I am also interested in how such ideologies reflects in one’s body, moral value, and political imagination. My dissertation project is exploring nascent and burgeoning Korean popular (K-pop) music industry in Stockholm, Sweden. I have ethnographic fieldwork experience in Singapore and Thailand where I worked with media production companies. I speak German, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, and Vietnamese. I also understand Lao and Singlish.
