Forensic anthropologists have been trained in anatomy and osteology (the study of bones) to make forensic determinations and identifications involving human remains. They are hired in the offices of medical examiners and coroners and are also in demand as expert witnesses in the courtroom.
Graduate students who are preparing for careers in forensic anthropology are advised to participate in supervised casework and receive training in anatomy, archaeological field methods, skeletal biology, forensic science, legal evidence, and pathology.
