The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) would like to invite you to "Lessons Learned: Conducting Oral Health Research in Mexico," the second lecture of their El Foro Latin American Research Forum Series. E. Ángeles Martínez Mier from the IU School of Dentistry on Monday, October 1st at 1pm in Public Health C013 will be presenting findings from her dental research in Mexico. Her research focuses on two areas; fluorides and cross-cultural health. Her talk will focus on her community-based research in the area of cross cultural and binational (US and Mexico) health designed to address and identify disparities in dental caries and dental fluorosis in Latino/Hispanic patients. She has also helped develop extensive service-learning opportunities in Mexico and throughout Latin America for IU School of Dentistry students. Faculty, staff, and students interested in public health, community-based research, and service learning will find her work particularly relevant. E. Ángeles Martínez Mier serves as department chair and director of the Binational/Cross Cultural Health Enhancement Center.
