About Leslie Drane

Leslie Drane received her B.A. in Anthropology and Gender and Women Studies at the University of Illinois before starting her Ph.D. in Anthropology, with a focus on archaeology, at Indiana University. Her current research focuses on the relationship between Mississippian people near/at Cahokia and Woodland people in the northern Apple River region. She studies how identity and landscape interplay and can be understood through architecture and material remains, as well as how contemporary people understand and interact with archaeology. She also works at Indiana University’s Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning.
